The Transits – Living Dead For A Paycheck. A Halloween song about working yourself to the bone, literally.

Indie synth punk band The Transits are back with their latest Halloween pumpkin treat.

Living Dead for a Paycheck, is a punk-synth anthem that hits all the right notes in its eyeball-hanging truths about the corporate rat race.

The band are split between 2 countries and write and record online across three home studios and two time zones with member Ryan Lunn (vocals, guitars, synths) in Durban, South Africa and members Dom Antelme (vocals, bass) and Tyrone Smith (drums) based in Auckland, New Zealand.

The new single is a fitting follow-up to last year’s ‘Lost Ones’, which captivated fans of ‘80s horror, skateboarding, and vampires. Now, they hit the nail through the head with a story about the soulless zombie office worker. Working themselves to the bone, competing for their pound of flesh.

The video is cleverly done, with excellent make up and throw me backs to bands like My Chemical Romance and Sum 41. New school punk emo that you know you are going to be thrashing your body around to in an underground tunnel.

With lyrics about toiling away in soulless jobs, ‘Living Dead for a Paycheck’ paints a vivid picture of office workers reduced to zombified versions of themselves. “The video humorously shows these “living dead” trying to go about their office tasks, like scanning their rotting faces at the copy machine”.

Following the February release of their debut album, the band has clearly found its stride, refining a sound that blends rock, punk, and synth-pop in ways that feel organic rather than forced. ‘Living Dead for a Paycheck’ captures the chaotic energy of a workplace on the verge of collapse—without ever losing its sense of fun. The Transits know how to balance humour with edge, and here they do it brilliantly, with sharp musical production and hooky melodies.

The track’s message will resonate with anyone stuck in a “dead-end” job, In short, The Transits have done it again: another smart, energetic release that showcases both their wit and undead chops.
